Alexey Dmitrenko
Alexey Dmitrenko is a dancer, teacher and choreographer, rooted in the tradition of classical ballet. He studied at the Moscow State Academy and the Vienna State Opera Academy on a scholarship from the Nureyev Foundation. Over the course of more than 15 years of dancing professionally for: Oregon Ballet Theatre, Volksopera Vienna, Thuringen State Ballet, Tanzkompanie Innsbruck, Theatre St.Gallen, etc., he worked with a versatile repertoire of choreographers, such as: George Balanchine, J. Robbins, Jiri Kylian, Robert Wilson, Philip Taylor, Nils Christie, Jiri Pokorny, Chang Ho Shin, Minako Seki, Natalia Horecna, Marco Goecke and many others.
As a teacher of ballet and contemporary dance Alexey has been invited to: Dance Alp Festival and Move On Dance Center in Austria; Ballet Academy of the Theatre St Gallen, Switzerland; Scottish School of Contemporary Dance at Dundee & Angus College, UK; FIA Program at Muuk, Bernal, Argentina;
In 2016-2018 Alexey co-directed “Embodied Arts Bali”, an international dance school in Indonesia, and it was then that he became a resident teacher and choreographer at dance institutions in Malaysia, where his students won several international awards.
Since 2020 Alexey lives in Barcelona, where he worked for the: YBA Ballet Academy, FRe3 Bodies – Creation and Performance Program, Slam Dancing Barcelona, Barcelona Ballet Open Classes and Barcelona Dance Center.
In his artistic research, he draws inspiration from the fields of somatic practices and yoga. His goal is to support each student in their artistic and personal growth.
